Welcome to the game, wild things!

Since we have an influx of a few new people at once, here's a group intro post for everyone that's new this app cycle to say hi!

If you're new, feel free to introduce yourself and your character in the comments below!

NOTES
✦ You can feel free to use this post for setting up starting CR. The game's player plotting/cr meme will also be posted on 4/7/18. So keep an eye out!

✦ Much like many games, the game rotates between periods of plot and downtime. Unlike other games, the periods of downtime are set in temporary camp locations instead of the same game setting. The game is currently in a camp cycle at Melai Temple. Your IC intro posts should take place in that setting and you're free to tag any other posts set there. Please see the Melai Temple post for timelines on when the plot will move forward. ICly, your characters can be handwaved as having arrived only a day or so after camp started.

✦ Please take a look at the Crossroads Post that's up and start thinking about the potential choices. When the camp cycle is over, characters will ICly have a chance to discuss which way to go and have a vote.

✦ Feel free to post on the network! So far, everyone's been working on their first logs but the network is open as well.

✦ The game has a setup where if a player has more than one character, they can only have one character on the main quest (but can swap them at any time). Currently, all characters in game are on the main quest. On 4/6/18 there will be a plot where players with more than one character will have their secondary characters sent to the Brugh for the first time. These characters will then explore the Brugh and broadcast their exploration over the network for other characters on the main quest to participate in.

So uh, hey. I'm Thea, and I'm bringing in Waver Velvet from Fate/zero. Waver's a very weedy 19 year old, who does a lot of yelling and sometimes magecraft.

He's following along the alchemist archetype in game, and...that's about all I've got. I'm looking forward to being able to build on his canonical character development in game. He's a bit of a brat, so I do apologize in advance for his terrible reactions to most things.

Hellooo! I'm Korel, the head mod, and I play Brainiac 5 here, and Superboy, both from DC Comics.

Brainy's also an Alchemist mage type so he'll probably be grabbing Waver so they can knock heads together and figure out this magic nonsense.

He was a scientist back home and while magic in his universe forced him to acknowledge its existence (he's from the DC universe 1000 years past the time of Superman and Batman and so on), he HATES magic so that should get funny since Waver comes from a universe where magic is a little more common.

Hello! I'm Marie, and I've got two puppets here at WL. This one is Robbie Baldwin from Marvel Comics, and I've also got Tim Drake from DC comics. They sort of bookend Waver in age (Tim's 17, Robbie's about 23) but we can see what they make of each other!

Housekeeping: Robbie does have a small content warning for self harm, so I'm advising everyone to go here if they want to make a blanket statement of "don't ever mention it" or give permission.

Alacruun

Hey there! I'm Stefan and I'm bringing in Alacruun, a black dragon-slash-wizard who tried to become a god back home. That didn't work out so well and he was imprisoned for a thousand years of darkness or something, but recently he's been making a comeback with the (un)willing help of a half-elf sorcerer named Adalia.

He's also a necromancer and is totally all about beating death, because screw that, I wanna live forever.

I'm hoping that maybe he'll learn something trying to save the multiverse rather than conquer his own world. Hope springs eternal. He'll be spending time as a tiefling as well as horse-sized dragon (which is way smaller than he's used to, he's gonna be grumpy).

A semi-positive is that once he actually likes you he'll probably want to keep you forever?

I totally want to throw Kon at Alacruun, being his little do-gooder self, trying to be a good influence. Kon's got the Necromancer mage archetype too and is trying to Deal because Super-family people aren't supposed to raise the dead and be all dark and shit. He's not one of the Batfamily.

Anita Fite (played by July)

Hey all! I'm July, and I'm bringing Anita Fite (yes, a pun name, how creative) from DC, and more specifically, from the YJ series before the young adult/teen characters got murdered once every few months, if even that.

Anita's keeping her canon powers, which is to say vodoun (with her favorite spell teleportation mildly nerfed) and the ability to very temporarily telepathically command sapients with her voice if they can't make the will save, basically. Hope you guys enjoy looking for critters in the woods, because to get the stronger use out of her vodoun, there's going to be animal sacrifices involved.

I can't wait to see how she interacts with a way more magical environment than the DC universe generally is, since mystical characters tend to be kept more on the sidelines in universe, and have the fun of interacting with a whole bunch of different people besides the YJs. She can be pretty bossy, but only when she thinks it's needed.

And on my side, I just got out of the navy and am VERY EXCITED to be able to RP again with a schedule that actually allows for it. In case you guys want to know about camels, all you have to know is that they are absolute unrepentant jerks.

I'm Lisa and I play Dixon from Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and since he's a character with ugly subject matter I have an opt-out if you want to use it for anything. I think we ran into each other before and I had the mistaken impression that your username was from a Laura Veirs song. It's cool to cross paths again!

Anita looks like she's going to bring some much interesting creepiness to the mix (telepathy and animal sacrifice? sign me up). I'm looking forward to playing with her and you're welcome to have her boss Dixon around, he's weak-willed af.

Garviel Loken

Howdy guys!

I'm Bill, I'm bringing in Garviel Loken from that most Grimdark (They invented the phrase!) of franchises warhammer 40k, specifically the slightly more noblebright and far more interesting time period of it called the Horus Heresy.

Also known as Paradise Lost in Space with Laser guns.

He's a big knightly warrior with a lot of PTSD and daddy issues. He looks about 30 but is about 100 years old, and just got done telling his gene-dad to Eff off basically and then got exploded out a spaceship into vacuum before being retrieved after a failed mission.

He's also highly leery of magic or psionics so this is going to be.

Hilarious. Fortunately he's also a cooperative, philosophical and somewhat empathetic protector of humanity so it'll be fun for his own biases to war with his own nobler impulses.

As a note I'm a LARPER and re-enactor so I may be slow-tagging during certain weekends of the month, but I'll always keep you informed and do my best to phone tagged while not leading armies fighting evil monsters elsewhere (Or being the dumbest redcoat with a musket)

Bringing this dork here, you may have heard of him maybe??? He's a superhero who's always trying to help everyone out and do the right thing so that's gonna be fun in this setting.

Kal is going to come in from the world of New Krypton storyline, which means that he'll only have his Superman uniform with him so he's going to be dealing with that at first, plus he's prooobably going to think this is all some kind of magic dreamy thing so he may want to stick as Superman to keep his identity secret, that will also be fun.

He's going to come in with only a bit of his super strength and a bit of his super speed so he's also going to have to learn to deal with that o7 yaaay

Hello, I'm Autumn and I'm bringing in Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead. He's a walking stereotype of 'asshole with a heart of gold'. Gruff and grumbly on the outside, huge softie who doesn't like seeing most people hurt on the inside.

He's a roughing it type, both in canon and in game. You need someone to keep you alive in the woods? He's your man. Of course, you may have to put up with eating worms, but hey, at least you get to live to complain about it!

hey guys, it's the g, some of y'all know me, and john talked me into apping ovelia, aka Princess Anxiety, from final fantasy tactics: war of the lions. if you've never heard of it, its a beloved classic strategy rpg set in the land of ivalice. honestly it feels weird but its kind of like game of thrones, deeply political for the most part. then it gets to be about a church conspiracy and it all just kind of goes off the rails from there. ovelia here gets used as a pawn a lot. its not a happy life.

ANYWAYS she's a Monk here, with a focus on boons for others. a great support role!

Agrias Oaks

Anywho, I'm Jon and though I handle Monika, I'm here to talk about this other character instead.

I bring with me Agrias Oaks from Final Fantasy Tictacs Tactics. As previously mentioned, it's a strategy RPG that goes from the unemployed and lower class staging a rebellion for fairer treatment into church conspiracies, politics and killing demons.

Agrias is a personal bodyguard to Ovelia over there and she is... Very Knightly. Honestly it's easier for her to navigate her way through a battlefield than to maintain a casual conversation with anyone for any given length of time. Otherwise, she's a pretty agreeable sort, as long as you don't start shit with Ovelia.

Alistair | Dragon Age: Origins

Hello everyone! New player here! I'm Roz, and I'm bringing the ever lovable Alistair from Dragon Age, specifically from the first game Origins as I haven't... played the others yet HAHA (do you ever plan to play a game and then you start it and another comes out which you start and the other gets left on a pile? No...? Me... neither...).

Ahem right anyway! So Alistair is a dorky jokey often sarcastic character, full of witty banter and one liners. He's the heir to the throne, but this version of Alistair has refused it and is sticking with the Grey Wardens. He's... thinking he's going to die to the Archdemon in the final battle and he's been mentally preparing himself for it, as the Dark Ritual hasn't been suggested to him quite yet. He was trying to sleep before he got brought to this place. He's very righteous and moral and doesn't like bad people who do bad things so be prepared for lectures and anger directed at those who are inclined that way, but in general he's easy to get along with!

He's coming with a Magic Weapon. A cursed sword that allows him to drain enemy magic (up to 3 times) until the curse takes effect. The curse being him becoming mentally unstable and having nightmares. I thought it'd be fun to play out every so often! (Am I mean to him? Maybe, just a little...)

Patience McCray

Hey! This is new player Joysweeper (find me on Plurk as Joysweeper) with Patience McCray, a teen girl currently possessing the body of a thirty-foot prehistoric predator.

Patience thinks of herself as a tough, mean, independent soul. She's quiet, surly, rude, and cynical, but you scratch all that and she's pretty blatantly a good kid underneath. She's pretty put out that the quest to return to her own time and body gets a giant roadblock, but she'll deal.

She's coming in with native superpowers, discarding most of the psychic part of her powerset so she can be a big dinosaur. I feel like I should link this tumblr thread on the capacities of Tyrannosaurus. Patience is smaller than that and has much less jaw crushing power, she can't crunch metal armor, but she's still pretty formidable.

Dinoverse is not a good canon but I love the characters and a lot of the concepts, and Patience is an old favorite. I hope I can have fun with her here!

Since we're already in a thread I figure it's probably best to let you know that Dixon has a lot of triggery material involved in his canon and wrapped up in his character in particular, so if you have any desire to opt-out of anything please let me know here.
