And by that I mean we absolutely need to toss them at each other.

I feel like, given our past CR combinations, this will somehow turn from utter loathing to a kind of grudging affection.

I think esp since Dixon is sort of vaguely trying to do good person things. Brainy's verbally salty but when it comes to actual action he's 100% pure grade hero so that his actions kind of overpower his words. So he might be able to win Dixon's respect.

And he's also got a history of shutting down racist bullshit without entirely writing someone off. He had to deal with a teammate in the early days of the Legion who was like ridiculously xenophobic and shove her in the direction of being a vaguely decent person. Harshly. But he still took the time to teach her a lesson rather than treating her as not worth his time.

Dixon's on that kind of course where he wants to be a better person but is completely, utterly, totally unable to actually visualize what that would...look like. So odds are that given the right set of circumstances he could end up looking towards Brainy as a sort of moral authority, once we get past the "this guy's talking astrophysics in front of me fuck him he's probably gay" bullshit. It might be another one of those cases where on a day-to-day level they fucking hate each other but when the chips are down they're on the same page, and I don't think it would take a ton for Dixon to swap over to respecting Brainy deep down even while he talks shit to his face.

And I mean, the upside is that Dixon's way less outspokenly racist than some other characters I've played. It's something that comes up, but he's not about to spew it all over the network like some characters.
